Great service

I have advertised with BookRaid many times now, and always had a good result. I particularly like the pay-per-click model which, provided you have a good conversion rate, offers an excellent ROI.

This site delivers. It reports the number of clicks you get. With all my books, the clicks exceeded the fee cutoff. Of course, there's no way to tell how many of these clicks resulted in sales.

Best Value for Money

Per usual, Bookraid is the best value for money promo site. It's pay-per-click model that doesn't demand too much and guarantees clicks for pay is unbeaten by any competitors. Will use again!

My favourite site

It was great for promotion of my book (SciFi for 0.99$). It worked very well on Amazon.

Peacetaker Series

I've already written this review - and though I was signed-into the site, it would not let me post it. That is the first red flag about a site that raises for me. I write in several genres. I promoted at least four of those with BookRaid back in 2016. I have not gone back because, frankly the money they charge can be utilized elsewhere for far better sales results. I'm sure there are writers who received better results from BookRaid's promotion. I didn't.

Great ROI

I've used Book Raids for a number of my books and have seen sales for a fraction of the price of many of the other promotion sites. The pay-per-click works in the author's favor.

Guaranteed success

I have used BookRaid twice now and both times have ended up with a great number of book orders that have propelled me into the Amazon best sellers lists. I'll be coming back for more and recommend any indie author to give this a try.

Julia

So Worth It

The unique structure makes them ALWAYS worth it. The better your promo does, the more you pay, so you have essentially zero risk, and the total amount you can end up paying is capped so you'll never go over budget. I will always use them for this reason. There's never a reason to not use them. And I've seen real success too. I'm never left wishing for better results.

Love the PPC

5 stars alone for the PPC model. I think its only fair. My books set to free do 100x better than when they are 99c. I write historical fiction.

Leann Ryans

I love the PPC

Now, I realize I'm not leaving the best review of them on their own site, but I'm trying to be fair. I've only used BookRaid once, in '20, on a free steamy PNR. I had two other promos booked the same day, and that day's performance fell right in the middle. I attributed a lot of the downloads that day to one of the other promos I had that day since they are a bigger/better known newsletter, but there's no way for me to be sure since I haven't tried them on their own. Back then the max was $40, so I wasn't really disappointed with the results. I actually thought I'd tried them again but it's not in my records if I did. I'd probably be willing to try them again simply due to the PPC model since it seems more fair than a blanket price for what are sometimes crappy results.

Bookraid

This site is quick and easy to use, it is very easy to navigate between pages and to set up a promotion is so easy, it must be one of the easiest to do. I will be using this site as well as Fussy Librarian as both these sites work well.

Great for free books

I have been using Book Raid for promotions for over three years. I find them great for free book promotions. For my past four free books, I've received over 500 downloads. I highly recommend.

Peter

High "value" site

Book Raid nearly always produces a positive ROI. If I do a 7-day promo I always start with Book Raid which is the most difficult position because my book's ranking is usually at its worst on that date. Great site.

Rachel

Pay Per Clicks is well worth while

I'd always use Book Raid to back up other promotions. Pay per click and price capping makes it totally affordable and well worthwhile.

Amber Night

Unique pay per click/results model

What I appreciate the most about Book Raid is the unique feature of paying only for the clicks you receive, and the price capping at $60. This, I think, really distinguishes the site from others and makes it much more affordable for authors who may not (yet) have the budget for more expensive sites. I've found it to be more effective for traffic than having my book in bookfairs which would come in at a comparable cost.

Lauren

Good for the Price

I write women's fiction, romance, and rom com. For the price and CPC structure, I like Book Raid. My 99c books never get as many clicks, but I've had good results with free books. I use this service often when stacking promos.

A.L. Hawke

Mark

Best Dashboard, period.

If you're here, you know about Bookraid's dashboard. By far it is the best and most informative dashboard for any newsletter and I hope to see their mailing list grow. Their pricing structure is incredibly fair and is results oriented, working more like advertising than flat-rate newsletters which can result in 0 sales.

Impressive so far

"Must Have" this one in all of my promo stacks.

Good number of sales, easy to book, awesome options for adding a secondary option. I'm not a KU author, and I don't try to mess around to make books free via price matching, so I only ever do $0.99 promos. I do appreciate that Fussy Librarian accepts books that aren't as discounted, too.

Refuses to track clicks

They claim they can't record click information. They really should use better newsletter providers, or just a simple smart-link website. I won't hire a service that won't track clicks.

All my books have been promoted here

The cost is a little higher than $13 these days, but it's still worth going to promote here. You can expect to sell anywhere from 3-30 books the day of the promo. But those are decent results, compared to other sites out there.

Chris Cloake

My Top Choice

I've always had good results with them and they have really great customer service. When I do a promo, they're my first choice. I've used them to promote historical fiction. Don't use them too often though. You'll definitely see the best results when you have them promote your book less often (for example, every six months instead of every three months, or even less often than that). It's totally worth it though.

Rachel Neumeier

Usually a good service, but inconsistent

I like Fussy Librarian, which is easy to use, reasonably priced, and ordinarily produces pretty decent results. However, sometimes this promotion service performs far less well for me, for reasons which are mysterious. Possibly lower mailing list turnover? Maybe something else? It's a service I use fairly often, but these days I may schedule promotion with Fussy Librarian at somewhat longer intervals, maybe six months instead of three.

Paul J Bennett

Mixed Results

This used to be one of my go-to places, but lately I'm not seeing the results that I did before. I've done several 99c, free, and 1.99 deals in the last year for romance and rom com, and the last couple of times I had zero sales. It could be something on my end of course, but this is not my go-to anymore, especially since the price has gone up. Worth a try, because it might work for others and the price isn't terrible.

Angela Lam

Disappointed

With all the hype, I was prepared for a better return on investment, which I did not receive with this promotion. My book, however, was not free, so I think that is why the promotion failed.

Leann Ryans

PNR and SFR

I’ve used TFL a few times now over the past 3 years, and overall I have to say it’s meh for me. My first few sales I stacked as many promos as I could afford so it was hard to tell exactly which clicks came from where, so I started doing a single paid newsletter each day of the promo, and I found TFL to be worse than I’d originally thought. Maybe it’s just my genre, I write steamy PNR and SFR, but I stopped using them for a while because it wasn’t worth the cost. I tried again recently to see if anything had changed, and because they had a sale going, but I still found it to be middling at best. If I have the extra money or am really trying to push something, I would book them, but if I’m trying to limit spend, I would choose something else.

A.L. Hawke

Usually very good

This is a bit of an erratic one. These promos usually sell well, but I have had some promos do poorly. Others have done very well. I find them most successful with free promotions. 99c is more erratic. The price is fair and they're approachable and easy to work... so I still give 5 stars :)

Laura

Simply the best

For me, this is the best book promotion site for promoting free books. There are several genres to choose from at different prices, ranging from $15 for African American-themed books to $79 for the more popular genres like Mystery, Thriller and Romance. If you want to see a spike in downloads, then The Fussy Librarian regularly provides around a thousand for me. Any purchase leads to a discount on the next promotion. It's an effortless process, so if you're prepared to part with some cash to give away free books and hopefully generate reviews, this is the site for you.

Michal Stawicki

Solid

Nonfiction: It's worth to sign up to their list, they quite often offer good discounts. When discounted, it is almost as good as Book Raid. At the full price not worth it, but will always sell a few copies, unlike other services.

A "Must Have" in your promo stack if you do fantasy!

I've always made back my return on investment. You can book for $7 (as of Oct 2024) on CraveBooks or through their own portal. I prefer their own portal, you have a few more options for what to include in your spot. I was astounded with the results when I tried them the first time.

Best in the Business. Seriously.

I have been recommending Bookspry to anyone who will listen ever since I first used them. If a new author tells me they are on a budget and can only afford to spend it on one newsletter, I tell them to use Bookspry without any hesitation. Solid Offerings

The results are decently okay, but they have other resources too that are worth checking out even if you don't plan to use their promo service. I used them for historical fiction and I think I would use them again depending on what my overall budget is. I think they are a little on the expensive size for the results you get. But they're by no means a bad choice at all. Definitely worth looking into at least if you haven't already.

My favorite promo service

Freebooksy, run by Written Word Media, has three standout features for me: 1) It is pricey. If you add the series promo, quite pricey. If you add the reader reach service, very pricey. 2) It performs very well. I'm not completely sure the reader reach thing is cost effective for me. The series promo seems to be. The total number of downloads for a free book is almost always the best of any promotion service I've tried (I haven't landed a BookBub deal). I can usually count on one to two thousand downloads, sometimes more, from Freebooksy. This is consistently the best performing promotion service for me. 3) The customer service offered by Written Word Media is just stellar. I love them. They are very easy to work with. Not that I want to put their staff to a lot of trouble, but if you decide you scheduled a promo for the wrong day, you can contact them and they will change the date without, in my limited experience, any quibbles. Written Word Media keeps offering new services and features. They are so great to work with that I am always interested in trying whatever they offer if it seems relevant for my books.

Wish I would ever be selected

I have a large backlist and multiple points of entry into my series universe. I've submitted to them months in advance of desired promo dates and with all of my appropriate books. They all have profession, market appropriate covers, solid blurbs, tons of good reviews, etc. I don't write erotica, my genre is epic fantasy. And yet, my books are always rejected. Many of my main characters are lgbtq, so I have wondered if I am being rejected because they assume that all lgbtq books are erotica. I have tried booking directly and via the Promo Stacks on Written Word Media, always rejected.

The Riddle Man

Not what it used to be - nor what you used to get for upward of $60 (US - for those who ware NOT in US this exercise is costly). I used to pull in sales between 50-100 books per day for the title promoted. That was fair enough performance for me. This time, the promotion yield was less than 25. If you can afford it, go for it. Otherwise, there are better sites to promote at, that will get you that 25+ book sales for fraction off the cost of ENT. I think the site is still <sailing> on its name and past reputation.

Worked for me

It took me a while to get my first BB featured deal, but I've had 5 now, and each one has been worthwhile. I DO think it depends on genre (I write epic fantasy), and works best if you have a series. I have done 99c promos with them and always earned back my ad spend within a week, and then with read-through to the other books in series, (currently 4), the big initial outlay has turned into a decent profit. I always advertise book #1 in series, and on every ocassion it has reached the #1 spot on Amazon in the highly competitive Epic Fantasy category, in multiple countries.

I'm not a big fan of BB. It's really overpriced and it takes a lot of time (and money) before you understand how it works. If you're rich and if you wonder what to do with your money, use BB. If you expect any return of investment, choose BR.

Ribbons of Death

Yeah, ONE Star. It's not a mistake. This site really flies only on the <so-called> recommendations of well-established authors and their agents/publishers, who get a hefty cut of author's royalties. If you are a vanity-author with tons of money, go for it. I went for it twice. Once when the book was still with a publisher. It cost me $600+ that was back in 2016. The Publisher <gracefully> declined to spend any money on this promotion. The cost was all MINE. The book earned just over $700 US. The Publisher took more than half of that and I was left with a huge loss. I went indie after that. The second time was on my own, spent $1200+, got back about $350 in sales. Same loss. Yes, there are authors out there who have success promoting with BookBub. SOME - and you should read that as <very few>. Don't believe everything you read about <huge success> when it comes to indie authors. Most, and that includes me, are struggling just to get the next book out.

Expensive but worth it

After numerous rejections, I finally got a Featured deal last year and it was well worth the investment. My book went to number one in military thrillers. The Kindle Unlimited pages read and reviews spiked in the days and weeks following. I have also done two new releases for less deals. I did not get the same results as the featured deal. So Featured Deal, well worth it! New Release for Less, I would still do, but the expectations should be tampered down.

Super expensive

Super expensive for not a great ROI on ads - only do this if you have FREE books. If you have a 99c book, it really decreases the number of clicks. DON'T DO ANYTHING OVER 99c.

Keep submitting!

It may take a while to be accepted but it's always worth it. Bookbub Featured Deals has always been a game changer for me. Yes, there are a lot of traditional books but they do take indies. And it's not always wide releases - all 6 of my featured deals have been KU. Well worth the cost.

Great for featured deals

I have done both new release for less and featured deals. The US Featured release is amazing. The new release did not earn back it's fee immediately, but I have noticed the sales of the new release have continued to come in a much higher rate than previous new releases, and the series is doing better after the new release for less promotion

Peter

If you do your homework you'll give this site a big miss!

BookBub has 20 million subscribers. It is basically a site to promote Featured Deals for HarperCollins and Random House. Seventy percent of promotions are for traditional publishers which leaves about 12 places daily for indies of which 6 are allocated to romance. The titles chosen for indies are invariably priced at FREE or $0.99 and are really sponsored loss leaders for traditional publishers. They claim their editorial team only chooses quality books that are error-free. Anyone who's read their recommendations would know this claim is fake. As far as using their advertising platform goes, it's a surefire to eat your "hard earned" dollars.

Essential

Without a doubt, BookBub is a vital promotion site. Keep applying for featured deals and if you get one, build a promotion around it. I more than recovered my costs with a featured deal for a free book as readers went on to buy my other books.

Active Part of My Marketing

I have sold over 53,000 books and I would venture half come from my ads on BookBub. I started with this platform in August 2018 and saw an immediate explosion in sales. It can get expensive, but can be well worth it if you can target the right author and readers.

Yes, Always

I'll always take a BB deal because of maximum visibility. It's been a while since one of my books was chosen for one, but the last deal had enough downloads that it was worth it. I hate that it's so hard to get into BB, but I'd definitely go with them again.

The New Release for Less paid promotion provided an excellent return on investment for my contemporary romance novel, Now and Forever. I would definitely purchase this type of advertising again. Even though I spent more money, I sold the most books.

THE BEST

Look here when promoting your book. They have a tough editorial review with a very limited number of books accepted, but if you get accepted, you'll see your 99cent promo often earn you over a thousand sales and your free promo earn you tens of thousands of free giveaway "sales". Totally worth it if you're gonna promote via newsletter.

Hands down the best

There's a reason BookBub is the gold standard. Nothing else comes close to getting their level of results. No, it's not a cash cow for everyone. Free works better than paid (always has). But in a world where most promos barely break even, BookBub consistently returns several times more than what it costs. (Their Chirp deals are even better because there's no upfront cost)

Unquestioned Best

Bookbub is a league of their own. It has absolutely destroyed any newletter I've used, which shouldn't be surprising. Resulting in over 300 sales for my books which tend to underperform anyway, it was still hundreds of percentage points better than any I'd run before, though over all the cost per sale was higher than some. Getting a featured ad is tough, but keep trying, don't give up.

Huge list size

If you're looking to kickstart an Amazon free book promotion, Bookbub is perfect. You can choose how much you want to spend as a daily limit, choose your genres, choose your audience by selecting similar authors, design the ad yourself or let them use a template, and then make the ads live whenever you want, with the option to pause if you want to change anything. Not cheap, but they're worth it for the extra information you can see: number of impressions, clicks, click-through rate, budget spent etc

Solid - Use as often as possible

I wish they were a tad less expensive, but they are a good choice for fantasy. I appreciate that they do have quality control with review requirements, and I especially appreciate that they are lenient on new releases! My last release had launch issues since it is an LGBTQ book and for some reason got chosen by a bunch of trolls for targetted harassment, just flooding it with negative reviews on both Amazon and Goodreads. But BookBarbarian looked at my backlist and still accepted my new release since all my back list books had dozens of solid/great reviews. I don't always make back my investment lately, but it still gets sales moving and is good for stacking.

Possibly in decline or just over-saturated?

Bookbarbarian used to be my go-to for discount sales. However since beginning to use it in 2020 I've seen a gradual decline in my results. This really hit-home recently when I ran a free promotion and while it performed admirably it was much less than years prior and performed worse than the two other newsletters I tried: Freebooksy and Bookcave. This could be that I have over-used this list, however, by relying on it too heavily. I will be skipping it in my next rotation.

I do a promo on my romance/romantic suspense genre with these guys. For $20, expect sales in the range 5-30, but no more. Still, they are solid, and though I haven't promoted with them since 2021, they are still on my list, when my next romantic suspense (Whispering Rapids) comes out. The Swiss Army Knife of Promo - MUST HAVE.

I've used BookDoggy for several different kinds of promotions. 1. Discounted Book Sales($24 as of Oct 2024) - Made back my money and was THRILLED that I could include not just my author website, but have it mention that my newsletter came with a freebie AND also link to the Amazon Series Page. AMAZING. I got almost immediate sell-through and I attribute it to the link to the series page. And while I didn't get any direct sales, I was also over the moon that I could include my direct sales link! Another happy bit of luck is being able to promo an audible link! One of my books just got a spiffy audiobook and I've been trying to recoup the narrator expenses as quickly as possible. More people purchased the audiobook while they were there than purchased from audiobook specific promos. 2. Reader Magnet Promo ($21 as of Oct 2024) - Absolutely best Bang For My Buck when it comes to my newsletter. It was super easy to set up. My Reader Magnet was advertised as a free book and when the reader clicked, they were taken to my StoryOrigin reader magnet sign up page. Within hours, I had 60 new subscribers. In the days that followed, I ended up reaching over 100 new newsletter subscribers. They've all been active and engaged subscribers with solid open and click rates! Considering I have twice paid $50 for a Cravebooks giveaway that netted 125 new members with abysmal open rates, I'd say this is the best thing I have done to quickly ramp up my newsletter. 3. Review Copy Promo ($21) - Easy to set up and while I didn't get hundreds of sign ups like I did for my reader maget, I did get 10 requests and 4 solid reviews from this. I linked to my StoryOrigin ARC sign up page, which means people did need to create a StoryOrigin reader account, request the book, and wait for me to approve it. I imagine these extra steps are what caused the results to not be the landslide like I saw with the reader magnet, but still! For the number of people that requested, this came out cheaper than BookSirens per person, and I have hope that a few more people will leave reviews eventually. I've already booked a few more promos from BookDoggy and they have a permanent spot in my Promo Line Up. I'm in the middle of editing another reader magnet, and definitely will be promoting it on BookDoggy before the end of the year.

Among the best !

I've run dozens of ads on their list and always get excellent results, especially with free books. Not only that, they let you add your book page (either your own or your Amazon book page) and your Amazon series page, if the book is part part of a series, without charging you extra. $21 for free books, $24 for discounted books. You also can get a 20% discount on either of these by buying five or more promo codes at one time (for use anytime). Makes the $21 ads cost $16.80. One of the better deals around, in my opinion.

Good for steamy PNR, great for SFR

I've only used them twice, both times on free books. The first time was for a PNR. I had other promos booked the same day, and that day fell in the middle as far as performance. The second time I booked them by themselves for a SFR, and once again it's day fell right in the middle as far as performance, but I still had almost 1k downloads that day. It's been a few years, and back then it was only $18, and I consider that an awesome return. By now they should have a bigger audience and I need to remember to use them again.

No Brainer "Must Have"

Amazing price. Make sure to book DIRECTLY with them. Don't book via CraveBooks. By booking directly, you can add more books to your promo. When I use eReaderIQ, I make sure my first book in series is $0.99, and then the next two are $2.99. I write fantasy, where readers have been burned by big name authors abandoning their series before it's finished. By paying the extra $10 to have two more books included in my eReaderIQ promo, I am showing social proof that the series is not abandonded, making readers more likely to convert, not just to buying book 1, but buying more in the series, too. You can't do this "add more books" thing on CraveBooks, you must use the eReaderIQ site directly. Another bonus is that you can include audiobook links. This tactic is second to only BookDoggy when it's come to my audiobook sales, beating out even dedicated audiobook promo sites like AudioThicket.

All my books have been promoted here

I'd gotten sales as low as 1 and as high as 60 with this site. It all depends on the time of year, and other factors that only gods who govern writer's destiny know about. I go to them when I have some money for promo. They are on my 10-good sites list. Yep, no more than 10 sites are worth promoting with. Trust me when I say I've tried them all, and have records going back to 2017 to prove it. And the trend that emerged over the years is that the more expensive the site for its promo, the LESS you should expect from it. What does it mean? If you get a gorgeous, sexy influencer to endorse your book, it'll be accepted by BookBub an you'll get a ton of sales. Are you in this <snack-bracket> as an author? The answer to that question should be your cautious guide when it comes to promotion.

Not the best if you have LGBTQ characters

Per their own policies, they consider LGBTQ books to be "political" and "controversial" and are quick to label books that have LGBTQ characters simply existing to be an attack on religious groups--yes, even fantasy books that are set in a secondary world where there is not even a church-stand in or where gods or religion are never mentioned. But they don't label books by christian authors to be inherently political or controversial. Their readers heavily skew on the christian side and are quick to 1-star books for having a character utter "oh my god" even once as it's considered "profanity." Their guidelines on what counts as "profane" also skews heavily christian, with words that would be considered profane by other religions seeminly okay and just dandy. They say their profanity ratings and all that are there to make sure the right readers find the right books, and it's not a judgement. But then they include some incredibly judgemental language in their policy that makes it obvious they don't actually think writers should include profantiy for any reason. Even if the inclusion of profanity is for things like demonstrating character motivations, temperament, etc. They also consider things like "darn" and "heck" as trying to "get around" profanity and are just as bad as the actual words they are substituting for. They also accuse authors in their policy of "constantly lying" about their profanity, when maybe the author just didn't have the time to open up and manually count every instance of "darn" in their 150,000 word manuscript and estimated. But also, they think the EXISTENCE of a queer character in your book is in and of itself too controversial and an attack on readers of faith. So. Take that as you will and extrapolate to what you think their reader base is and if you want to promote your books here.

Edita A. Petrick

All my books have been promoted here

They actually rate lower than four-stars, but I am on their site for the free <group> promo offered that you sign-up for. Someone runs these group promos, they run for a month, and though they don't produce spectacular results, it helps to promote them with your newsletters. They are expensive when it comes to promo - $25US - and you can expect middling sales, 5-20 book sales that day - but there are other things on their site to stay with them. Just don't bother more than every few months.

I'd keep trying

I've only used them once, and didn't see a big bump in sales. I'd try them again with a free book, because the price isn't bad. Lots of downloads; tough to schedule a set date

I highly recommend Hello Books for a free book. They probably have given away the most books for me at an affordable price--the highest "ROI" for a free promotion. Yes, for visibility for a new book

New In Books provides visibility. When you're selling a brand new book, you're looking for this, even if it means less sales. The problem with this promotion (like BookBub's New Release for Less too) is that you will not see the higher sales you get from other promos. So, it will be costly. But is it still worth it? And with a SAD, SAD heart I have to let you know here, that the site - or more precisely its owner, Michael - have closed the shop. I received their last promo email at work, and an hour later I received Michael's <good bye> to his customers and supporters. After 15 years, I believe he said, it was time to go and close down. This was an expensive promo site that was actually quite, quite decent. I promoted with fkbt every time I had some money to spare. Used to be very powerful, not so much anymore

Bargainbooksy used to be one of the more reliable promos (for romance at least) but has really struggled recently. They seem more interested in offering new services to buy than making sure the promo service works well.

A.L. Hawke

Very good

Their results are as much a "bargain" as their cost. For a very affordable price, I can usually garner 15-20 sales for a 99c title. I nearly always use them for promo stacking.

Alexis Anicque

Great

My promotion went very well, keeping in mind that I was going for sales rank because at 99 cents i knew it was unlikely break even on this platform.

Julia

Pretty Good

For my next promo, I'll look into using them again. I think the results I got for my historical fiction were okay. The price wasn't bad and they have other helpful resources too. They're worth considering for sure depending on your overall budget.

Great

I would definitely only do 99c or do FreeBooksy. Everyone is looking for a bargain or free. I write historical fiction.

Pretty Good

I broke even with ROI on the one promo I tried here--a romcom at 1.99. I'd try them again, and I'd stack with other promos.

Not as good as FreeBooksy

BargainBooksy definitely doesn’t pack the punch that FreeBooksy does. Then again, I found that discounting a book to $.99 is nowhere near as good as running it for free, and the results from this site are one of the reasons I changed to only reducing books to free when I discount them. They are worth trying if you’re going to do it anything above free, but with my PNR and SFR I didn’t get great results.

Good Value

I always promote with Bargain Booksy. Their customer service is great. The advertising is consistent. And the return on investment is solid. My bread-and-butter when it comes to book promotion.

Laura

Do FreeBooksy instead

While Bargain Booksy used to be stellar, over the years, I'm not seeing anyone getting the same results I saw five years ago. 99 cent books are harder to move than free, and where someone might get a handful of sales on Bargain Booksy, they'd see hundreds (or even thousands) of downloads with FreeBooksy. It just isn't worth the cost to me.

Yep. This is that <staple> promo site that you go to, when you do have some money to promote. They are solid. You will lose money. ALL promo sites lose money. But here you'll get anywhere from 5-60 book sales a day. It's a good promo site. Some books from my backlist

I tried this site a way back. Little performer. Not great, not bad either. If I have money to spare, I'd go back. Otherwise, it all seems to depend on what genre the readers are for any given site. Larger sites have readers of all genres. Smaller sites, like this one, tend to go for romance. If that's your genre, give the site a try.

A.L. Hawke

A surprise

I stumbled on this promo company a while back. They're not mentioned as much in the writers' boards. This is funny because they're one of the more effective promo services out there. The main reason is their affordability. They sell more than many other promos priced at the same cost. Definitely recommend.

They have a personal touch and have always been professional with me. They're website and newsletter reads professional too. Iffy

I've been using ILVN for 3 years now, with both free and 99c deals. In the beginning I booked them on the same day as other promos and I thought they were really good, but recently I've been booking them on their own day and I've realized they aren't as good as I thought. The days I have them are usually in the middle as far as performance, but since they've dropped their price and run deals occasionally, I still use them. If you catch their 2for1 it's worth it, but full price I've become more hesitant about. Especially since in my most recent experience my book wasn't properly listed as free in their newsletter (instead showing its regular price) and I think that affected clicks.

Decent

Now that they’re doing more than just contemporary romance, they’re a decent newsletter. I’ve only tried them a couple times, they’re not good enough for me to make them and every time thing, but they have the potential to get there. They seem to do better for my PNR than the SFR, and I’ve only tried Free books, but it seemed to be worth it. Not as good as it once was

I have had good results in the past, making back investment easily since it was about $14 after taxes (I always got the +$5 newsletter add-on). But the last few times, I've not had even a single sale from it. Not sure what's going on. As I have said in other reviews, my books all have great ratings, appropriate and professional covers, and battle-tested blurbs that convert. Books that have done well, or exceptionally well, in the past on this promo just haven't been converting lately, with my last attempt seeing no sales at all.

Julia

Not Great but Super Cheap

For only $5, I suppose it's worth it. But don't expect even remotely decent results. Keep in mind, you get what you pay for, but again, you can't really go wrong with $5. If there's room in your budget left over, then use them. But otherwise, don't sweat keeping them off your list. And definitely don't let the $5 influence your budget.

Juan Marcos Gutierrez

Inexpensive but Unclear on Results

It's an inexpensive service to try. I first learned about it because of Mark Dawson's Self Publishing Course. The challenge is they have to schedule the special out which can cause problems if you are scheduling a Kindle Count Down deal. Also, the distribution is small and I while inexpensive I did not see significant results from this option.

Lauren

Great for $5!

I recently used BK in a promo stack, so I can't say how effective they were with sales. Their home page with book deals looks good, and they have a fast turnaround time, so they're a good choice for last-minute stacking. For $5, I'll keep trying them.

Leann Ryans

Eh

I mean, for the small cost, it can be worth using them, but with no proof to show where they’re actually promoting your book, and no sign of any extra activity, I can’t say that this is a good one.

A.L. Hawke

Affordable and good

You can't beat the price. This is an effective promotion company that somehow manages to charge only $5. You're not going to see the same sort of sales as some of your more expensive alternatives, but it could perform better than some of the lower tiers. If you run a promo with them, I advise you pay the extra $5 for their newsletter promotion ($5 alone will only put your book on their DigitalBooksSpot website).

Ribbons of Death and other titles

Same poor results as with most of the sites here. 3-4 books which does not justify you spending $20 for a promo with them. But if you run out of sites to promote, go for it. If only as a test. It's what I've been doing these past 5 years - testing performance of these promo sites. And it's true - you will always, ALWAYS lose money on your promo, but some sites lose you less money than most. Those are the ones you keep going back to for promo.

Hit and Miss

I've used them to book promotions, giveaways, and set up reader magnets. It's very hit and miss. I tried their Facebook ppc service and didn't see any sales from it. I booked their kickstarter promotion and while the service is pretty cool and I saw my campaign in the footer of their daily email for the duration of my campaign, I didn't get any conversion from it. I've done three email subscriber giveaways with them, the first netting me 250 new subscribers, the next two barely breaking 100. For $50, there are much better giveaway options. I tried a genre specific one (fantasy), an audience specific one (lgbtq) and a "first in series multigenre" one and only the fantasy one gave me subscribers who were engaged and had good open rates. I love their new BookSpry partnership, but their other promotions are hit and miss.

Poor results for very costly promo. Did give them a fair try - about, 203 times one year - but they fell flat each time. If you have $30 bucks and are curious, go for it - but only if you can afford to lose that much.

Disappointing

I'll start off saying the last time I used them was Dec of '20 on a 99c book, and the reason it was the last time was because I had so few downloads the day I booked them. It was one of my lowest performing days, and even the other time I used them on a free book wasn't enough to make me willing to try them again. They don't cost much, but I don't think it's worth it, at least for my genre. (Steamy PNR)

Overpriced

I spoke with the sales representative on the phone who promised so much. I had a showcase, an author interview, and links to all of my books. Everything looked impressive, and the customer service was great, but nothing much came from the promotion. If I had the same amount of money to invest, I would have gone with a BookBub New Release for Less.

Books from my backlist

I tried them three or four times. Each time, the results were not worth the price. Middling to zero. I'd go back to them, after a few months to see if the performance didn't improve - but I'm not expecting to see improvement. For me, it would be just statistical <visit> since I have a 6-year long list of promo sites and their performance(s) against my genres.

Too Good To Be True

Got a good response from this service

This one worked out well for me. I received over 60 sales for that day. I will use their services again. I think it all depends on your genre. Mystery seems to be the best, and then Romance after that. Once you start going into other genres, readers start to lean out.

I tried them with a few titles and saw no sales or read-through on the series. Could be that it's better for other genres, so I'd try again if the price wasn't too high. I've tried romance and nonfiction titles.

Easy process, no sales

East to book. Price was good, especially after I used my ALLi member discount. Paid extra to be the Book of the Day / top spot. Got zero sales, however. My book has a market appropriate cover, professional and proven blurb, and over 50 reviews and a 4.5 rating. I get sales surges for it easily when promo'd on places like Bargain Booksy, Bookdoggy, and Book Barbarian. Can't help but think that the issues is the LitNuts list. Ribbons of Death

Tried them way back. Not worth the money. Also I tend not to believe they have a list the size they say they have. And if they do, it's not a list of readers either. This kind of money - there are better sites to promote at, and you can do two or three sites, instead of this money-gobbler.

Not Worth It

For my free historical fiction book, I didn't get great results with this service. I was pretty unhappy considering the amount of money I paid. I'd stay away from them unless you have a large budget looking to spend. It could be that I got unlucky. Also, the results weren't non-existent, just, I've had much better results with different sites, so this one isn't worth it for me.

Peter

Not terrible

Probably the only advertiser where you don't get to see your ad unless you accept an email with 50 books. If you nominate say 12 and your book is a thriller or a romance novel you're unlikely to see it. Dreadful policy and enough to make me cautious about using them.

Leann Ryans

Seems good

I'll start out saying it's been a while since I used them, and when I did they weren't the only one I had booked for the day. That said, the days I had them booked were either my best or one of the top days, so I'm willing to say they at least had a hand in it. This was for my steamy PNR, and I've used them for both free and 99c with equal results.

Very messy

I booked via CraveBooks. Whenever I sign up for a promo, I join that mailing list, too, just to make sure I don't miss anything. I found it almost impossible to sign up for Book Lemur. Then, on the day of the promo, the link to my book in the newsletter just took me to the main BookLemur landing page. I contacted CraveBooks and they told me this was expected behavior for the kind of BookLemur account I had? I had apparently missed some sort of step when joining BookLemur that would have made my clicks take me to the appropriate Amazon store (like a universal link). But I could never figure out how to get it to work on my end and I am assuming readers experience the same issue. I got zero sales. As I have said elsewhere, my book has over 50 reviews, a 4.5 average, a market appropriate cover and a professional blurb. I don't believe this is an issue with my book packaging.

Ribbons of Death

They're not scammers. But they don't produce sales results either. For $25 US, you can get a much better promotion than this site offers. Granted, my promo was way back in 2019, but spending $25 for a promo and getting 1-2 book sales is just poor performance.

Hidden Gem

I see most of the reviews think they're only okay, but I had decent results with them when I promoted a historical fiction book. Also, their customer service is one of the best I've ever seen. At one point, a rep was giving me advice about promos and even suggested other sites to use. I'd definitely use them again due to the positive impression they left me with, even if the results of promos with them are a little underwhelming (and by no means were the results bad. In fact, they were good, just not very good).

Leann Ryans

Iffy

Now, I've only used them once for a free steamy PNR, and it was a couple years ago. They day I used them I had two others booked as well, but it was my second-best day, only beaten by FreeBooksy. My records show I paid $75, and considering how many there are for less, I haven't tried them again. If their prices have dropped it might be worth giving it another shot on its own day so I can be sure of the results.

Cost-Benefit Ratio Poor for SciFi

My basic problem was the initial high price. Because they also offer publicizing free ebooks the chances of making many sales appear poor, especially if your niche is hard SF. It might work well for romance, but it did not for me.

GenrePulse is a borderline scam. Their lists are not near to the size they advertise, they are sending to spam lists, and that's if they send it at all. I go to this site at least twice a year to see if it's me that's just not getting any results, or whether all those glowing recommendations they post on their site, are fake - well, they are or they must be from those precious few authors who actually managed to sell some books with them. Great people, no sales

Easy to book, very nice people, love how much detail they can get into, but saw no sales from it. I am fairly certain their list is just other authors, no actual readers. Tried them several times over the years, most recently October 2024, and never got anything.

Pretty useless...

..But at least it's free and they have a nice facebook group

Not That Great

I plan to avoid them for my next promo. I didn't really see results with them. If you're looking to promo stack and have a large budget, then I suppose they're worth it, but otherwise, stay away. Definitely underwhelming.

Saw sales from this in 2018, not so much anymore

AwesomeGang used to be really good for me but now its just blah. I write historical fiction.

Good for Stacking

Highly recommend the free version, because why not try? It's quick and easy to book. When I booked the paid version, I didn't notice more sales.

Disappointed

Again, I thought this outfit would deliver more results. But I was disappointed with the lack of sales.

Lovely site, didn't see sales

Great site, nice people to work with, good price, but didn't see a shift in sales. There is a free option too.
