But after a dead body takes a swan dive right in front of her and she learns a missing six-year-old girl is caught in the aftermath, Emily's heart sends her from barrel racing to paralegal work in a hurry.

As she and Jack interrogate the young girl's tight-lipped mother, a string of strange coincidences don't seem to add up. I'm so glad I read this book and got to know Emily, a paralegal, who worked for Jack, a lawyer. His client, Sofia, is an illegal immigrant whose six-year old daughter is missing. Emily tries to find the child even though she may lose her job because of it. On the personal side, Emily is divorcing her husband who left her for another woman who is really a man. I liked this story with Emily trying to do the right thing by finding the girl but bad things happened along the way. I did find it hard to follow at times though. Emily's dreams were confusing to the story so I couldn't tell if it was real or a dream. The cover is misleading. I thought it was a picture of a line of transport trucks and it made me think the book was about a female truck driver. I know the blurb said different but I thought what I wanted the book to be about. After I'd read about 25% of it I couldn't figure out what the trucks had to do with the story so I looked at it more closely. Then I saw it was a bunch of old vehicles on their ends. I still have no idea what that has to do with the story. So the cover should be rethought. Also it took me a long time to figure out where the title came from - almost to the end of the book. This is a good book so if you like mysteries with a little romance you should read Heaven To Betsy.

I enjoyed the book and the characters. My only criticism is, it felt too contrived that "Betsy" showed up where she did, from where she was. It seemed a bit convenient. Once I ignored that irritation , I was just tickled. I'm looking forward to the next book.

This was a really fun book with a ton of quirky, silly things that kept happening that would make me laugh. My favorite part though was all of the funny ways she had to get around using a swear word... loved it!
