About this ebook

Groundbreaking and comprehensive, Driven to Distraction has been a lifeline to the approximately eighteen million Americans who are thought to have ADHD. Now the bestselling book is revised and updated with current medical information for a new generation searching for answers.

Through vivid stories and case histories of patients—both adults and children—Hallowell and Ratey explore the varied forms ADHD takes, from hyperactivity to daydreaming. They dispel common myths, offer helpful coping tools, and give a thorough accounting of all treatment options as well as tips for dealing with a diagnosed child, partner, or family member. But most importantly, they focus on the positives that can come with this “disorder”—including high energy, intuitiveness, creativity, and enthusiasm.

ADHD in most children and adults is actually quite character-building; and if channeled properly, can give you unique talents and advantages in life. If you have it, (like, *actually* have it) chances are that you'll be a brand-new individual, more confident in yourself than you ever were before reading it. Medication is just one small (and optional) component of treatment. You need to actually understand yourself before you get the full effectiveness/benefits from other treatments.

Because of being a slow reader, it took me 8 weeks too read this book. I didnt give up. It was so depressing at first because I thought I was alone. beating myself up thinking I was dumb not knowing my whole life that I have ADHD. I was tested and was told I had ADHD. I finally finished this book and cannot wait to get started on the next one.
