Great book. I gained so much insight on the way my brain thinks and how to correct it. Pessimist from way back! Admittedly I skipped a few of the middle chapters because I found they dragged on a little or weren't so relevant, but on the whole a great book and I thoroughly recommend it to anyone, especially those going through a hard time and wanting to retrain their way of thinking.

This was a real eye opener for me as I had always thought that you were either born optimistic or you weren't. I had also thought that I was basically an optimistic person; that my style (habit) of living always on "point" was just being smart & prepared for anything bad that could happen. This book was a revelation that I could change my "thoughts or thinking" and change my life...there was hope!

The author goes into depth about pessimism, learned helplessness and depression. Tools and exercises for learning optimism is towards the end of the book, the last few chapters.
