It took a little bit before I got into this but I’m glad I stuck it out. As usual for Skye MacKinnon there are some interesting twists and turns and the characters are compelling. I don’t want to give it away, but the cliffhanger left me wanting more without being upset that is a happy for now conclusion. If you like quirky, this is a good book, you won’t be disappointed. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

Interesting Storyline (3.5⭐️) —————————————————————————- Meow started off a little slow and so it took a bit for me to get into the story. It also took a while to warm up to the main character, Kat. Her demeanor was a little off putting. Honestly it wasn’t until Lennox was introduced into the story that I was drawn into it. That’s where things started to pick up and become more intriguing to me. The case that Kat is investigating becomes more complicated as she digs deeper and discovers that her murder victim may not have been as innocent as he seemed. It becomes a race against the clock to solve the mysteries uncovered and save hundreds of innocent lives. This second half of the story captivated my attention with it’s twists and made me interested in continuing Kat and her team’s journey. I look forward to seeing how things develop.

Kat is a slave shifter assassin, freed by an unknown benefactor who helped her set up her own assassin business. One day she is given a blank cheque to investigate a murder. But the more she investigates, the more she unravels a sinister plot. The author indicates slow burn reverse harem romances, however there really isn't any of that in this book, just hints of it and the introduction of a few male characters. About the author

Skye MacKinnon is a USA Today Bestselling author with a slight obsession with bunnies, dried mango and Scotland. And when she says slight... her friends are trying to find ways to trick her into not having a book set in Scotland.

You'll often find Skye bribing herself into writing words using cake and tea, but whatever works, right?

Whether they're set in space (Scottish space, obviously), fantasy worlds (Scottish fantasy worlds, obviously), or Scotland, Skye's tales are full of magic, romance and adventure. Oh and unicorns.
