Maxine O’Callaghan introduced detective Delilah West in a story in Alfred Hitchcock’s Mystery Magazinethat was so good, it created the female PI genre and blazed the trail that Sue Grafton and others would follow. The Delilah West books have earned her the Private Eye Writers of America lifetime achievement award and recognition as a ground-breaking legend of crime fiction.
