Puppy Love

Puppy Love is a nicely done sweet, cute, fun romance that had me smiling all the way through the book. Sophie and Harrison are great characters and then of course there are all the puppies! I enjoyed this new author's writing style very much and will be looking for more from her in the future. I definitely recommend this one.

4.5 stars — Well that was a freaking delight! This one just hit me in all the right places, had me laughing and laughing and delighting in the banter! Honestly, it did take me a bit at the beginning to figure out the dynamic between Harrison and Sophie. Their first bit of interaction had me confused about what was happening, and how they were making it work. But once I figured that out, I was so in for it! I LOVED the way Sophie pushed Harrison out of his comfort zone, and teased him into letting his walls down. And I loved the way Harrison saw Sophie as this strong, sassy torturer. They were exactly what the other one needed to get over their own life speed bumps. Sophie was hilarious. I seriously couldn’t with some of the outrageous things she would say to Harrison. I loved her boldness, and her cheeky sense of humour. I also appreciated what she was dealing with trying to break out and show her family that she wasn’t delicate, but smart and capable. She had some hiccups along the way, but I loved the way she blossomed under Harrison’s attention. And Harrison was so much more than met the eye! He was so broken and hurt, but he hid it all away. I know some readers may not appreciate the lack of clean answers we got with his family, but I kinda enjoyed that it wasn’t all neat and tidy — it was more human. And sometimes humans suck. Especially when reacting out of fear. The chemistry between the two of them was honestly just the best for me. I mean, they were smoking hot for sure, but give me a steamy scene where they’re laughing and teasing through half of it, and I am THERE. And we can’t forget Bubbles. OMG that dog was fantastic. I loved the way she wiggled herself into Harrison’s heart, and how she didn’t let her fears from the past and her small stature stop her from being the heroine she knew she could be. I cheered every time she nailed her training! I don’t know. I just needed this book. I realize it might not be for everyone, but it was perfection for me, so who cares about everyone else. Can’t wait to read more of the Vasquez sisters and their service puppies!

I am so very glad I picked up this book that has introduced me to an author I will definitely be following. The first book of this series about three sisters who own a service puppy training school, belongs to Sophie Vazquez and Harrison Parks. Sophie has come a long way from all the suffering she experienced as a child. She doesn’t consider herself as pretty or as bright as her sisters, and is determined to become an excellent dog trainer. Add that to her spunky personality and you have a winner. Harrison is a wildfire firefighter, a big tough guy that doesn’t smile and though respected by his peers, is also feared. His type 1 diabetes latest episode and his boss are forcing him to find a service dog so he can continue to work the fires. When these two meet, sparks fly and not always in a good way, especially after Sophie chooses the opposite kind of dog that Harrison wants. The story is at times funny, at times heartbreaking but also touching and sweet. The complex and imperfect characters make it a wonderful story. Aside from the obvious plot, it’s also a story on how our experiences as children, as well as our family support and love or lack thereof, mold us as adults . Sometimes making us stronger, at other times making us feel that we are not good enough or loved enough if the person that is suppose to be there for us , abandons us. Can’t wait to read what else the author has in store for us in the next book. I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley. The opinions expressed ares solely my own.
