I was disappointed with this book. I loved her books, "The Mistress" and "Rushing Water", so was hoping I'd like this as well. It sounded like an interesting plot and characters, but fell flat. The author just told you what was happening, which left it feeling very shallow and empty. The characters were incredibly underdeveloped, and the storyline was rushed, there was no way to feel any connection.

Lait was a woman after my heart! Strong, caring and compassionate. Even though her life had some ups and downs she hung in there and a miracle happened. What an inspiration.

Ms. Steel's books always grab me right away. I bought this the day it came
out, and finished reading it in a day and a half!
