4.5 Stars Lady Charlotte Carpenter’s brother-in-law Matt has put an infamous brothel owner out of business—yet it is Charlotte who suffers the consequences. She is abducted by thugs and held at an inn, she is plotting her escape when she’s suddenly rescued by a dashing nobleman. Only afterward does she realize she’s seen him before at the opera with two courtesans! A known gossip Lord Braxton has spied Charlotte’s movements, and his report is speeding through the rumour mill. Soon, everyone knows that Charlotte spent the night with Constantine, Marquis of Kenilworth. And everyone agrees the only answer is marriage including Constantine himself, his overjoyed mother and his mistress! But Charlotte’s abductors aren’t finished with her yet. Another engrossing page turning novel, I love this series & whilst this story could be read as a stand alone why would you. The Carpenter & Vivers are delightful, there are young children cats & great danes all of which add to the enjoyment. The characters are well portrayed & very likeable. The story is very well paced & kept my attention all the way through. I would have liked to have found out what happened to the kidnapper who got away & also if Daisy was OK & if one of the pups joined Con & Charlotte. I look forward to the younger children growing up & having their stories My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

For the Worthington household, trouble is forever on the horizon. For Lady Charlotte, it started with an innocent act that spirals into a dangerous situation. When her hero turns out to be the town cad, the rumors start flying and her hopes of a good match start dying. For Con, a favor for a friend turns his world upside down. Now the roguish Marquis finds himself saddled with a bride he never wanted, but can't seem to live without. With a mystery waiting to be solved and a heart needing to be won, Constantine will risk everything for a love he won't live without. Ella Quinn draws readers in with her quickwitted characters and her intricately woven stories. The Marquis and I is a seductive adventure of love, lust and danger. Intriguing yet simple.

I will only write a review if I loved the story. This is so well written with a little drama and carrying the stories of earlier books from this family. You do not need to have read any of them to continue with the story. It is a stand alone and complete book. I was afraid at first that she would be one of those hard headed women that you just want to shake and not even finish the book. But that is far from the truth. So much story with their growing love and family. It never goes overboard with details that make you lose the thread of the story. I loved it.
