ARC - I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest Po Po just cracks me up! I am so glad that Po Po is also part of this new series. Lucy is called back to Morro Cliff when her mother is shot at her office. Now, it is up to Lucy + Po Po to find out what happened to Lucy's mother. You can't help, but be entangled in their antics as they go about their way in solving this crime. ( I do hope that there are some reconciliations in the horizon ) The storytelling + the character's build were awesome! It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book!

family-dynamics, murder-investigation, situational-humor, verbal-humor, twisty, suspense, cozy-mystery Po Po, the irrepressible grandma from the Raina Sun series is now involved in her foster granddaughter's life and investigation. Although Lucy's family has a long history of private investigators in their small town, Lucy has been living and working in San Francisco for a long time. Now mom is in hospital and unresponsive since getting shot in her office, and little sister has gone missing. Lucy also discovers a good friend in her cousin, and an ally in the attractive police chief. Lots of twists and suspense as well as some really great situational humor. Can't ever go wrong with an Anne R Tan cozy mystery!

A fun start to a new cozy mystery series. I received an advanced copy of the book and enjoyed it enough to want to review it. In addition, I pre-ordered it. Lucy Fong’s life is complicated; she left her mother, half-sister, and abusive step-father at the age of 16 and lived with her beloved Uncle Wong. He life is rather confused as she tries to find her path, but is completely thrown into a blender when her P. I. mother is shot and her sister is missing. She travels to her old home along with her foster Bonnie “Po Po” Wong. Po Po is a hip granny, more up on current trends than most of the younger set and will be familiar to readers of the author’s Raina Sun mysteries. What follows is a fun and exciting mystery with a missing half-sister / possible suspect, sneaking around, and other events that play fair with the reader, or put another way, it is solvable based upon the clues on-hand. If you like a good mystery you need look no further.

FIVE THINGS ABOUT ANNE

1. I can't resist ice cream.

2. I started my first book a month after I had my first baby.

3. And now that she's seven, I brainstorm story ideas with my girl.

4. Instead of reading to my children, I make up stories round-robin style with my children at bedtime.

5. I secretly want Raina Sun's life.

A NOTE FROM ANNE:

My books are my legacy to my children. Unfortunately, they won't grow up in the San Francisco Bay Area as I did. Without a cultural hub to keep the language and philosophies alive, our family will lose this part of our heritage in one generation. My children will be visitors to this rich culture just like my readers. I hope you'll enjoy your time with Raina Sun and her large dynamic family.
