Publisher Description
In this steamy novel from New York Times bestselling author Noelle Adams, a notorious tech mogul makes a mild-mannered woman an offer she can’t refuse. What he gets is a battle for control—and a million-dollar affair.
Eric Vincent isn’t in the habit of asking for help. As the founder of a lucrative sports videogame franchise, he’s accustomed to getting his way and enjoying the fruits of his hard-earned success. Then all his illusions of dominance are shattered by a skiing accident that leaves him hobbled, facing a string of surgeries and months of immobility. The only way he’s going to survive is with someone by his side to anticipate his every desire. Someone who will devote every waking second to his comfort. Someone like Julie Nelson . . .
Julie’s life revolves around other people: her students, her parents, her sister. But even she has her limits. Julie has zero interest in playing personal assistant to Eric Vincent, a man who’s as arrogant as he is charismatic . . . until he ups the salary to one million dollars for three months’ work. Soon Julie’s struggling to bite her tongue—and resist the chemistry that draws her to Eric. But after one scorching kiss, Julie decides it’s finally her turn to be selfish. And this time, she’s going to get what she wants.

PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Sexual sparks fly off the page, but the lack of chemistry or connection torpedoes this tepid contemporary romance. Eric Vincent, a wealthy former football player and video game designer, believes that every person has a price, and he can get whatever he wants by throwing money at it. After he breaks his leg in a skiing accident, he wants mousy Julie Nelson to move in and take care of him during his recuperation. Julie is grieving after her mother's death and at loose ends on what to do with her life, but she's simultaneously shocked and repulsed by Eric's arrogant assumption that she'll take the job. A million dollars is a lot of money, so it's natural that Julie finally relents, but it strains credulity when she rapidly goes from reluctantly acting as Eric's impersonal assistant to being embroiled in a red-hot affair with someone she doesn't like. There is very little in the nature of friendship or growing intimacy before they wind up in bed. Eric is a jerk to everyone, so his treatment of Julie is not a surprise. His sweet moments are so few he never feels three-dimensional. Julie may be a people-pleaser, but she is a doormat with Eric. Readers will be disappointed by this bland fare.
Customer Reviews
Well Written!
Sweet story, worthy main characters and I enjoyed their story.
A Fun story
I've read quite a few of Noelle Adams books before and this one follows the same path. This story is about Julie who has put her life on hold to care for her ailing parents. When she meets Eric in the elevator, she has no idea her life is about to change.
Eric is tired of everyone coddling him and driving him crazy. When he notices Julie's calm and caring manner in the elevator he knows he has to get her to agree to help him out. He is unable to take care of himself for 3 months and Julie seems like the perfect person to help him out.
The story addresses issues such as commitment and running when things get rough, frustrations, daydreams, and reality. This was a great story. I received and ARC copy from NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.
There are sexual situations and some language.
Slow
I usually really like Noelle Adams' stories. The description of this had so much going for it such as billionaire ex-NFL player, playboy, hiring a beautiful intelligent, caring woman to care for him, for a million-dollar affair, but the connection didn't have that spark and it was slow moving for me. It is well written but the characters are some what lackluster and a bit boring. I yearned for this story to get steamy and although there was some steam the beauty of it was always ruined by the characters insecurities almost through this entire story. The ending was good but I wished there would have been more of a connection in the romance and love departments.
